Elena Masci is an artist living in Foligno, Italy, a small town near Assisi, two hours from Rome. She classifies her art as Surrealism, saying she draws what she feels and tries to combine real elements with emotions. “I work in continuous expansion, everyday looking for new techniques and new ideas. If I am captured by a face, I feel the need to draw it. My job is me—when I draw I look inside myself, my fears, my feelings, as a therapy.”

Elena has been drawing since she was two years old, but began in digital arts five years ago. She likes to experiment with various drawing techniques, her first love being graphite portraits.

Elena draws inspiration from people’s eyes, which she says contain a universe, and artists like Salvador Dali, Caravaggio and Frida Kahlo. “The difficult part of starting a project is finding the inspiration. Many times I use reference images—there are so many magnificent face in the world to pay homage to.”
